Interpretation and Communication Manager
SALARY starting £28,221

The Tamar Valley AONB is running, with its core partners, a £6 million project, part-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Tamar Valley Mining Heritage Project focuses on access to, and understanding about, a recently inscribed World Heritage Site landscape in West Devon.

The project runs until 2010 and includes a range of work to a linked series of C19th mine sites encompassing heritage conservation, environmental work, and an exciting new 60 km trail infrastructure. Alongside this is an extensive interpretation, education, arts and community programme. Much work is centred on Morwellham Quay.

The AONB and Project are seeking a new, and key, position in the joint staff team. This is to organise and coordinate external and internal communication, project interpretation and education.

The post responsibilities include running the Tamar Valley Partnership, the key strategy driver and consultation mechanism in the area. Also, helping to develop a new Tamar Trust which will help maintain the Project post completion.

The post benefits from a full pension and casual car user allowance. It is a time limited contract to October 2010, hosted by Caradon District Council and currently based at Cotehele Quay.
